Sodium Nitrate Product Specification

Sodium nitrate is a white crystalline salt, highly soluble in water and a strong oxidizing agent. It consists of sodium cations (Na⁺) and nitrate anions (NO₃⁻), crystallizing in a trigonal-rhombohedral system.

• Solubility: ~91 g per 100 mL of water at 25 °C.
• Thermal Behavior: Decomposes above ~380 °C into sodium nitrite and oxygen.

 Key Uses:

1. Agriculture – fast-release nitrogen fertilizer.
2. Industrial Processes – flux in enamels, metallurgy, and chemical synthesis.
3. Energy Storage – blended with potassium nitrate for molten salt heat transfer in CSP plants.
4. Food Preservation – historically used in cured meats, now largely replaced by sodium nitrite.
